Botulinum A Toxin (BTX-A) Injections

BTX-A is a protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum and has been used for treatments in humans since 1980.  BTX-A relaxes muscles and in tiny doses can be used to inject the facial muscles to achieve a relaxed, rejuvenated look by smoothing dynamic lines, wrinkles and folds.

This treatment is not only for cosmetic use but also can help relieve medical indications such as headache, migraine, hemi-facial spasm and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating.)

What are the benefits?

BTX-A is an effective treatment for the prevention of lines and wrinkles. It will keep you looking younger for longer. As you age, the elasticity in the skin reduces, which then causes lines to appear when muscles move repetitively, etching lines into the skin such as frown lines.

This treatment can be used to prevent excessive frowning so the lines do not appear in the first place or to smooth those that have already occurred.

BTX-A is also an effective treatment for axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), tension headaches, migraines and even depression.

BTX-A also works well in combination with Dermal Fillers for the deeper lines that may not be able to be smoothed out with BTX-A alone. This can be discussed in further detail at your free consultation.

What are the Risks?

There are very few problems from injecting BTX-A for cosmetic use but they may include small bruises at the injection sites and weakness of muscles adjacent to those injected. This may, in turn, lead to unwanted effects such as droopy eyelids or brow.

It is very important when choosing a clinic for your BTX-A injections to pick a medical clinic, run by a registered health professional, with significant experience in the field of cosmetic BTX-A injections.

Dermal fillers (Neuramis)

For filler natural looking lips by hydrating and plumping the body of the lips giving a youthful fuller lip.

What is involved in the treatment?

Kinloch Clinic uses Hyaluronic Acid (HA) injection, which is a natural substance that is found in all living organisms, in particular the soft connective tissue in the body and in the fluid surrounding the eyes.

Hyaluronic Acid comes in gel form, often with local anaesthetic added to the syringe to reduce the pain of injection. Local anaesthetic blocks and/or topical anaesthetic creams may also be used to mitigate for any pain.

The dermal filler is injected into facial areas to soften wrinkles and facial folds, augment the lip and cheek and to correct asymmetrical facial features.

The whole process takes just a few minutes to perform with often dramatic and immediate results.

What are the benefits?

  • Dermal Fillers soften and freshen your skin replacing connective tissue lost during the ageing process.
  • HA is very hydrophilic and attracts water (up to 1000x its own weight) thus also providing excellent moisturisation of the skin.
  • Dermal fillers soften lines and wrinkles and can add volume to the face lost during the ageing process.
  • Dermal fillers can also be used to lessen the appearance of scars from acne and injuries.

What are the risks?

Hyaluronic Acid has few serious side effects but may lead to short term redness and swelling that rarely lasts beyond a couple of hours. Keeping the area cool and restricting fluid intake for a few hours is more than adequate to reduce this problem.

There are many dermal fillers on the market today with varying results and side effects. When considering which clinic and filler to use be aware that you should look for a registered health professional, with significant experience in Dermal Filler treatment and its potential side effects, to provide the best information and safest prescription of this medicine.
